Master of Science in Virtual Education

The Master of Science in Virtual Education at Carver University provides advanced training in the theories, methodologies, and technologies that shape digital learning and online higher education. The program equips professionals with the knowledge and practical competencies required to design, implement, and evaluate innovative teaching strategies in virtual learning environments.


Students will explore Personal Learning Environments (PLEs), instructional design for eLearning, and contemporary models of distance education. The curriculum emphasizes the development of educational resources, the integration of artificial intelligence, and the application of ethical and inclusive practices in digital pedagogy. The program culminates in a capstone project that enables students to apply their learning to real-world challenges and contribute to the advancement of effective and accessible virtual education.

    Educational Design and Innovation Competencies
    Demonstrates mastery of contemporary theories, instructional models, and methodologies for designing learning experiences in virtual environments. Applies frameworks such as ADDIE and SAM to the development of eLearning courses, integrating multimedia resources, interactive content, and Open Educational Resources (OER) with standards of quality, accessibility, and relevance.

    Technological and Digital Integration Competencies
    Integrates emerging technologies—including eLearning platforms, educational artificial intelligence, automated tutoring systems, and digital assessment tools—into teaching and learning processes. Designs Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) and digital ecosystems that foster autonomy, collaboration, and pedagogical innovation.

    Ethical and Educational Leadership Competencies
    Leads digital transformation and educational innovation initiatives within higher education institutions. Promotes inclusion, diversity, and digital accessibility from an ethical perspective by incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and culturally responsive pedagogical practices.

    Financial information

    The program includes a $150.00 application fee and a $150.00 technology fee. These admission-related fees are waived for students who choose the full upfront payment option.
    The total cost of the program is US $11,700.00. This amount does not include enrollment tuition fees or other applicable administrative charges. Academic materials and access to the virtual library are included as part of the program. Applicants may also apply for the George Washington Carver Grant, which provides up to 75% coverage of tuition costs, subject to the application and approval process.

    Admissions


    All applicants must meet the following admission requirements:

    1. Submit a copy of an updated resume.

    2. Submit three (3) letters of recommendation.

    3. Submit an official transcript or original foreign evaluation showing successful completion of a US equivalent bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent recognition.

    4. Submission of a valid government-issued photo identification.
