In the past edition of Carver GlobalTalks by GAN, we featured an outstanding presentation by Luis Valenzuela, a commercial engineer with a master's degree in innovation from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and director of the Centro de Emprendimiento e Innovación from Universidad Autónoma de Chile.

With extensive experience in the world of entrepreneurship, Luis has served as an innovation consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and coordinator of innovation projects at the UC School of Management. He also co-founded the Science Plus Dialogue Group and CMD Innovation Lab.

In his presentation, entitled “Redefining well-being through innovation,” the academic addressed the phenomenon of digital dopamine, which arises from excessive exposure to social media and other digital platforms, and how it affects people's well-being, for example, by worsening sleep quality, which in turn leads to other problems.

From there, he discussed how, in this scenario, “through innovation, problems become opportunities, opening up possibilities for applied research and exploring the use of technology in pursuit of well-being.”

Finally, he shared some scientific models with logical steps for starting a business.
