With a vast experience in the public sector, serving as a consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank and advisor to various government ministries and other public institutions, Eric Latorre has acquired extensive expertise in public security issues, international conflicts and political analysis, and is frequently consulted on these topics in the media.
During his lecture entitled “Organized crime and its impact on governance and democracy in Latin America”, the academic addressed the origins of these criminal networks and their advance in the region, which has made them one of the main concerns for Latin American countries. He also reflected on how intelligence becomes key in combating them by enabling the anticipation and detection of their behavorial patterns.
