Dr. Rodrigo Montero, noted economist and dean of the School of Business and Administration at the Universidad Autónoma de Chile, gave an interesting talk entitled “What can we learn from the economics of happiness?”. During his presentation, the expert addressed one of the most debated questions in economics and psychology: to what extent does income determine our happiness?

Based on studies by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dr. Montero explained how the relationship between income and happiness is neither linear nor universal. While an increase in income can improve quality of life, some cultural and economic factors significantly influence a person's perception of well-being.

This presentation was part of a series of meetings organized by Carver University, which seeks to connect academic knowledge with topics of social interest. “This theory raises a fascinating perspective to understand how we can design public policies that not only focus on economic growth, but also on people's wellbeing,” concluded Dr. Montero.
